The average value of an alternating quantity is defined as the arithmetic mean of all the values over one complete cycle.

Consider a symmetrical sinusoidal waveform in this case average value is over a complete cycle is 0. Hence, the average value is obtained over a half cycle.

∴ the average value of I (t) over specified internal t1 to t2 is expressed
