Step I:

Calculation of VTH

I1 = 100/40 + 60 = 1A

I2= 100/50+50 = 1A

Writing the VTH equation,

-40 I1 + VTH – 2 + 50 I2= 0

-40 (1) + VTH-2 + 50(1) = 0

VTH = -8V

=8V (terminal B is positive w.r.t A)

RTH= 49Ω

Step III: Value of R

For maximum power transfer R= RTH= 49o Ω

Step IV:

Pmax = V2TH/4RH = 82/4* 49 = 0.33 W
