Coding Redundancy.
Coding redundancy is associated with the representation of information. The information is represented in the form of code.
If the gray levels of an image are coded in a way that uses more code symbols than absolutely necessary to represent each gray level then the resulting image is said to contain coding redundancy.
If we can develop a code such that fewer pits are assigned to gray levels having a higher probability of occurrence and vice versa we could reduce the number of bits required for transmission.
Here we are not as would be done in lassy compression but simply represent more frequently occurring.
The Huffman code and arithmetic code are examples of codes.
