BOD	COD
It measures the oxygen demand of only biodegradable pollutants.	It measures the oxygen demand of biodegradable and non- biodegradable pollutants both.
The process is slow and takes approximately 5 days	The process is fast and takes hardly 3-4 hours
BOD value is generally less then COD value	COD value is generally more than BOD value
It is less stable method since it uses microorganisms which are easily influenced by ph, temperature and other factors.	It is more stable method since it uses potassium dichromate which oxidises regardless of water conditions.
