PEAS Representation

  • PEAS is a model on which an AI agent works upon.
  • Properties of an AI agent or rational agent can be grouped under the PEAS representation model.
  • This specifies the setting for intelligent agent design.
  • PEAS Representation stands for:

    • P - Performance Measure
    • E - Environment
    • A - Actuators
    • S - Sensors

Performance Measure -

  • It is the unit function to judge the performance or success of the agent's behavior.

Environment -

  • It is the real environment, surrounding, or atmosphere where the agent needs to perform activities.
  • It keeps changing with time if the agent is in motion activities.

Actuators -

  • These are the instruments, equipment, or organs using which the agent performs activities in the environment.
  • It acts as a delivering part or output activity of the agent towards the environment.

Sensors -

  • These are instruments, equipment, or organs using which agent captures the state or instances of the environment.
  • It acts as a receptive part or input for the agent.

PEAS Representation of a Biometric Attendance System

Performance Measure

  • Storage Capacity - Biometric attendance system can store and verify a large number of users' data.
  • Scanning Time - How much time does the system take to scan or sense the user data like fingerprints or recognize the face.
  • Verification Time - The success of a biometric attendance system depends highly on the time taken for the identification by the biometric machine.
  • Durability - Biometric machine should be rugged, durable, and can work in extreme temperatures.
  • Flexibility - Biometric attendance system should be easy-to-install and easy-to-use,
  • Internet Connectivity - It is mandatory to keep the system working without bugs and keep track of clock-in and clock-out time for the users.
  • Power Consumption - The system should use less power.

Environment

  • There are multiple environments or surrounding areas where Biometric attendance system can be applicable such as
    • Banks
    • School and Colleges
    • Offices
    • Hospitals

Actuators

  • Static Indicators - It shows bright green color when the user is verified if not then show bright red color.
  • Database Storage - It holds all the data about all the users who check in, check out at what timings, when present, and when not.

Sensors

  • Image Capture Surface - It captures things like fingerprints, and palm.
  • Hand Geometry Sensors - It recognizes various things such as palm-width, finger-length, finger-width, finger-area, and finger-thickness.
  • Optical Sensor - It works by focusing light on your fingerprint, palm, face, and retina to capture a digital image.
