In averaging filter if an image has Gaussian noise present in it, we use a low pass filter to eliminate the noise. The frequency response of the low pass filter along with its spatial response. This is proved by spatial response we generate the mask that would gives us the low pass filtering operation. One important thing to note from the spatial response is that all the coefficients are positive. The standard low pass averaging mask (3x3) is used over the image. The 8-bit image, a=0 and b=255 because of which the noise is called salt (white) and pepper (black). Salt and pepper noise creeps into images in situation where quick transients, such as faulty switching takes place.
