General architecture is as shown in the figure above.
The FGPA does not contain the AND or OR matrices. Instead of that logic blocks are provided for implementing the required Boolean function. FGPA consists of independent logic modules, I/O cells and routing channels. The logic modules and I/O cells are configurable an the routing channel are nothing but prgrammable interconnecting path. For the best possible utilization of an FGPA, it is necessary to optimize the siez of logic modules and number of interconnecting paths. The FGPA device can be connected in many different ways depending on the requirement of an application.
A number of FPGAs are avialbe with different types of architectures, parking and programming technologies.
