Classify the natural resources and explain reasons for their depletion.

All natural resources can be classified into two categories, that is,
- Inexhaustible natural resources and
Exhaustible natural resources.
Inexhaustible or Renewable natural resources:
The resources that are present in huge quantity in the nature and regenerated after their consumption are called inexhaustible natural resources. These types of natural resources are not likely to be exhausted by normal activities of human beings.
Exhaustible or Non renewable natural resources:
The resources whose reserves in the nature are limited and which are not replenished at the same rate as consumption are called exhaustible natural resources.
Reasons for depletion of Natural Resources:-
- Excessive or unnecessary use of resources.
- Non-equitable distribution of resources.
- Technological and industrial development.
- Erosion.
- Irrigation.
- Mining for oil and minerals.
- Drainage of wetlands.
- Deforestation.
