Human population is increasing at an alarming rate. The rise in population increases the demand for natural resources. The excessive use of natural resources destroys the environment.
The impacts of growing populations on human health and environment are:
Industrial needs will have to be met which will lead to pollution of the air, water and soil.
Ozone layer depletion due to release of greenhouse gasses from industries, transport and generation of energy.
Artificial method of farming will have to be employed to satisfy the food requirements of people. This will lead to the degradation of health of humans due to ill effects of artificial agro products.
Global warming due to industrial gasses and gasses from domestic use of fossil fuels will lead to rise in sea levels and eventually lead to the submergence of coastal towns and cities.
Fresh water depletion will result in crisis. Oil, natural gas and important commodities will also be depleted. These crisis situations will lead to conflicts between nations.
Degradation of ecosystems will lead to extinction of thousands of species, destabilizing natural ecosystems of great value.
