Wastelands are degraded and unutilized lands, which as a result of poor land practices have been rendered incapable of producing cultivation. Wasteland management means the checking of the further degradation of soil, increasing the nourishment value of the soil and restoring the ecological balance. The aspects of wasteland management are:-

i)    Fixing target areas, like degraded forest areas or pasture.

ii)   Finding the possibilities of involving local people.

iii)  Government has to give support in terms of funding and policy making.

iv)  Assessing the infrastructure available to meet the requirements.
