What is the role of Ministry of Environment and Forests in Environmental Legislation?

MOEF(Ministry Of Environment and Forest) is a nodal agency (design to acess and modulate) in the administrative structure of central government for planing,promotion,co-ordination and overseeing the imlementation of Indian environmental and forest policy and programme.

The primary concern of MOEF are implementation of policy and programme relating to conservation of countries natural resourses including lakes and rivers,its biodiversity, forest and wild life.

The broad objectives of MOEF are

  1. Conservation and survey of flora and fauna ,forest and wild life
  2. Prevention and control of pllution.
  3. Afforestation and degradaded areas.
  4. protection of environment.
  5. Ensuring the welfare of animals.
