Noise Pollution
Introduction of Noise Pollution:
We make various sounds which are meaningful for communication. Each one has different intensity of sound some speak with low intensity while some shout!
The unpleasant, high intensity sound is called as noise.
- The heavy industries, vehicles with very high speed and high pitching hours make the noise, the blasting in the mines also make noise, the urban areas, Airports, industrial complexes, mining areas, power generating stations are some of the notorious sources of noise, which pollute the calmness of the society. It is called as “Noise Pollution.”
Definition:The noise pollution can be defined as “A sound of unpleasant and annoying nature.”
The Important Sources of Noise Pollution
- The harmful noise is created at various sources. Followings are some of the major sources of noise pollution.
- Industrial Activities: Pneumatic Industries, Textile Industries, Steel Rolling Industries, wood cutting mills, etc.
- Transport Activities: Automobiles, Railways, Aeroplanes.
- Domestic Activities: T.V.. Radio, Tape recorders, mixers grinders.
- Cultural Activities: Festivals, Religious programmes, marriage functions. Public speeches.
- Agricultural Activities: Tractors, Threshers.
- Defense Activities: Tanks. Gunfire, Aeroplanes, bombs, Army Exercises.
- Mining Activitie: Blasting.
- Other Activities: Stone crushing, construction of dams, tunnels, roads. Landslides and earthquakes are the natural sources of noise pollution.
