What are the losses in the transformer? Explain why the rating of transformer in KVA not in KW.

Losses in a transformer are:
(1) Iron losses: Due to setting of hysteresis and eddy current in iron core.
(2) $C_u$ losses: Due to resistance of primary and secondry windings.
Transformers are rated in kVA and not in kW because load on them may vary and hence power factormay vary too.
