If a metal or semiconductor,carrying a current Iis place in a transverse magnetic field B , an electric field Eis induced in direction perpendicular to both I and B.This phenomena is known as Hall effect and the electric field or induced voltage induced is call Hall voltage (VH).

Significance of Hall effect is as follows :-

1. Hall effect is used in magnetic field meter.
2. The charge carrier concenteration can be determine.
3. The mobility of charge carriers can be determine.
4. The nature of semiconductor (P-type or N-type) can be determine.

If the conductivity and Hall coefficient are measured,then mobility($\mu$) can be determine by using
