Natural rubber in its normal form has the following properties which are overcome by vulcanization.

  • It has less tensile strength
  • Poor resistance over abarasion
  • It will be soft over wide range of temparature

Vulcanized rubber has higher tensile strength and resistance to swelling and abrasion, and is elastic over a greater range of temperatures.
