in upward direction,since chord is displaced in the downward direction ,so

$$W=T.d = -\frac{3Mgd}{4}$$

Here,negative sign shows that T and d are in the opposite direction.

Work done is $\boxed{ W= \frac{3Mgd}{4}} $
