Lift shall mean the average eight through which the earth has to be lifted from the sources to the place of spreading. The unit of lift is 1.5m measured from ground level in successive stages viz. (a) om to 1.5m (b) 1.5m to 3m and so on.

In case where excavated earth shall have to be carried over a bank and dumped on the top of bank lift shall be measured as the difference in level between the center of gravity of the excavated earth and the formation level of the bank in successive stages of 1.5m stating commencing level.
