MAC Transmitter:

The video signals are applied to the compression block in the luminance signal and the chrominance signals are time compressed by the factor of 1.5 and 3 respectively. The time compressed video signals are applied to the time multiplexer.

The audio\data signals as well as the synchronizing signals are digitized and compresses to reduce the bit rate and they are applied to the same multiplexer.

The time multiplexed output of the MUX is used as a modulating signal.on the other hand if the DTV broadcasting is to be ade then the MUX output is applied to an AMVSB modulator and the modulated signal is broadcasted on the cable network.

MAC Receiver:

If it receives the DTV MAC signal from the satellite then the FM modulator demodulates it and applies it to the MAC decoder. If the signal is received from the cable network then th AM-VSB demodulator demodulates it and then applies it to the MAC decoder. The MAC decoder with demultiplex and decompress the video audio and sync. Signals and then applies them to the video processing unit, audio processing units and the sync.
