A 360° hydrodynamic lubricated journal bearing supports a load of 20 kN when operating at 1000 rpm for a steam turbine. Assuming bearing pressure $1.6 N/mm^2$ and average clearance. Find diameter and the length of bearing, Clearance ratio, minimum film thickness, the viscosity of oil, coefficient of the friction, friction power loss, operating temperature of oil, bearing surface temperature, oil flow rate and select type of lubrication oil to be used. Assume bearing to be self-contained.
Given Data -
Type of Bearing - 360° Full Journal Hydro-dynamically lubricated bearing.
Load (W) - 20 kN
Speed (N) -1000 rpm= 16.67rps
Allowable bearing pressure $[P] -1.6 N/mm^2$
