The table shows the constructional details recommended for gear blanks. It depends on the pitch circle diameter (PCD) of pinion or gear.

Type Diagram PCD Range Design
Integral Type enter image description here upto 100mm .1. similar material as that of pinion or gear
2. $[\tau]=\left[\sigma_{b}\right] / 2$
3. Torque $=T=\pi \tau d_{s}^{3} / 16$
4. $d_{s^{-}}$ shaft diameter
5. simple construction
6. suitable for low loads
Disc Type enter image description here 101 to 200mm .1. may have similar material as that of pinion or gear
2. $[\tau]=\left[\sigma_{b}\right] / 2$
3. Torque $=T=\pi \tau d_{s}^{3} / 16$
4. $d_{s}$ - shaft diameter
5. shaft and key to be designed
6. suitable for moderate loads
Arm type enter image description here 400mm .1. May have similar material as that of pinion or gear
2. $[\tau]=\left[\sigma_{b}\right] / 2$
3. Torque $=T=\pi \tau d_{s}^{3} / 16$
4. elliptical arm selected $(b=2 a)$
5. M $=T=\pi \sigma_{b} a^{3} n / 32$
