In an AM receiver the loaded Q of an antenna circuit at the i/p to mixer is 100. calculate image frequnecy and its rejction at 1MHz.

Given:
Q = 100
Fs = 1MHz
Let IF = 455 Hz
$\therefore$ Image frequency fsi = fs + 2IF
$= [10^6 + 2 \times 455]$
= 910 MHz
Image frequency rejection ratio
$\alpha = \sqrt{1 + Q^2 P^2}$
$P = \frac{fsi}{fs} - \frac{fs}{fsi} = \frac{910}{81} - \frac{1}{910}$
= 909.99
$\therefore$ $\alpha = \sqrt{1 + (100)^2 \times (909.99)^2} = 82.82 $
