Parameter BJT MOSFET
Full form Bipolar Junction Transistor Metal oxide semiconductor field effect transistor
Controlled BJT is current controlled device MOSFET is voltage controlled device
Output Current It is controlled by the input base voltage Controlled by input gate voltage
Current Gain Low compared to MOSFET and not constant. Decreases with increase in collector current Very high. And nearly constant for varying drain current
Input resistance Low compared to MOSFET Very high. More than $10^7Ω$
Input current Due to low input resistance the input current is in the range of milliamps Due to high input resistance the input current is in the range of picoamps(nearly zero)
Power consumption efficiency Bjt devices consumes more power than MOSFET devices MOSFET devices are more power efficient than BJT devices
Switching speed BJT have less switching speed than MOSFET MOSFET have better switching speed.
Threshold voltage BJT have lesser, threshold, voltage (0.7V) MOSFET have higher threshold voltage $(\gt+1v)$
Application Suitable for driving low power devices like LED High power application
