Fig. hydro – dynamic jet machining

Construction and working :

• In WJM, high velocity water jet strikes on the workpiece, which pierces the material and performs slitting operation.

• Hydro-dynamic jet machining is development of WJM used for marching of ferrous, non – ferrous material and alloys.

• In WJM, only water under pressure from accumulator is passed via orifice of a nozzle to increase velocity. This high velocity used to cut soft material.

• In HJM, abrasive particles are added to high pressure water for machining of work piece.

• The nozzle used is of 0.08 mm in diameter.

Advantages :

• Water is cheap, non toxic and easily available.

• No heat generation.

• Less maintenance.
