Pumping station is made of large tanks known as wet well, that act as receiver for sewage from group of buildings or individual houses.

Sewage from individual houses flow into wet well. Sewage will fill into wet well up to predetermined level then pump will start pumping sewage and will enters into main sewer.

Need of pumping station:
• When gravity system is not possible then pumping station are used. • When basement floor are too low level than main sewer line. • When sewer line passes over any bridge or canal.

Advantages:

• Due to pumping station sewer line will not chocked. • Ground elevation will not hamper the sewage flow.

Disadvantages:

• Designed and installation need skilled persons. • Fats and grease can causes problem of maintenance. • This system is costly.
