• It defines the way multimedia objects can be accessed and how navigation takes place through the information objects.
Common forms of navigation for information access are:
• Direct Access: User clearly has idea about what to access and from where to access. E.g. opening a document from your own computer, taking a ticket from counter.
• Indirect Access: User has clear idea about what to access but no information about where to access. E.g. hyperlink in an HTML document, accessing video from youtube.
• Random Access: User has minimum idea about what information he wants, as a end result information is searched randomly.
User can select one of the several possible items that are not arranged in any logical sequence. E.g. Google search
• Guided Access: In this case, information is revealed only after following certain number of steps. The user may pause to examine the objects at any stage, but the overall access is controlled by the application.
E.g. Accessing email.
