Thermal barrier coating typically consist of four layer :

1) The metal substrate.

2) Metallic bond coat.

3) Thermally grown oxide

4) Ceramic top coat

Yttria stabilized zircon (YSZ) which is desirable for having very low conductivity while remaining stable at nominal operating temperature typically seen in appliances.
