Force | Stress |
---|---|
1] A force is a push or pull upon an object resulting from the objects interaction. | 1] When anybody is subjected to external loading, then elements from body will try to oppose that force i.e. internal resistance offered by elements from body is known as stress. |
2] Its unit is Newton (N) $1N = 1kg – m/s^2$ | 2] Its unit is $N/m^2$ |
3] $Force = mass \times acceleration.$ | 3] $Stress = \frac{Resisting \ force}{Area}$ |
4] Force can be of several types such as frictional force, Gravitational force, Tension force, etc. | 4] Stress can be of two types such as Normal stress and Shear stress.(Basic conversion for calculation): $1Kpa = 10^3 N/m^2$ $1 Mpa = 10^6 N/m^2 = 1 N/mm^2$ $1 Gpa = 10^9 N/m^2 = 10^3 N/mm^2$ |
