Advantages:

1) initial cost is low

2) no need of water of flushing

3) no need for construction of sewer pipe

Disadvantages:

a) a unhygienic way for disposing waste

b) A labour is daily needed to collect waste

c) cannot be adopted for buildings.

water carriage system:

Advantages:

1) it is improved civilized and hygienic way of solid waste disposal.

2) proper treatment of this sewage water can be done

3) as there is only one sewer used in the lanes, for collection and conveying the sewage.

4) the building can be designed compact as one unit, so the latrines are not required to be at a longer distance from the living rooms.

disadvantages:

1) the initial cost of this system is very high

2) it requires water for flushing

3) with the growth of the city new and improved sewer lines needs to be constructed.

4) public sector must be involved in construction of sewer lines.
