Sr No - ELV - STS
They are designed for one time use. STS is a reusable system.
Fewer safety constraints on the ELV designers. Launch from a manned vehicle imposes more difficult safety restrictions on STS designers.
More Gravitational forces during launch as it take place from earth’s surface. Lower Gravitational forces during launch as it take place from a low earth parking orbit.
Only one transfer orbit before placement of satellite in actual orbit. There are two orbits: Low earth parking orbit and transfer orbit before placement of satellite in actual orbit.
No Payload Assisted Module (PAM) or Perigee Kick Motor (PKM) required. Payload Assisted Module (PAM) or Perigee Kick Motor (PKM) required.
