It is a serial bus for interconnecting ICs.
It uses bidirectional serial communication.
Assume there are number of devices in a circuit and one IC speech for particular function. To connect these ICs mutually with each other, common synchronous bus called I2C is used.
It has two lines to carry signals- SCL (Serial Clock) and SDA (Serial Data).
Each device has address through which data transfer takes place.
Master can address up to 127 slaves at an instant. There can be more than 1 master as well.
At an instance, only one master, one that initiates data transfer on SDA and transmits SCL pulses.
