CORELAP converts qualitative input data into quantitative data and uses this information to determine the first facility to enter the layout. Subsequent facilities are then added to the layout, once at a time, based on their level of interaction with facilities already in the layout.

By using CORELAP it is possible to compute space requirement as well as maximum building length to width ratio.
