1. Difference between Oral and Written communication:

Basis for Communication ORAL COMMUNICATION WRITTEN COMMUNICATION
Meaning It refers to exchange of ideas, information and message through spoken words. It refers to interchange of message, opinions and information in written or printed form.
Proof No record of communication is there. Proper records of communication are present.

2. Difference between Hearing and Listening:

Meaning Hearing is the act of perceiving sound and receiving sound waves or vibrations through your ear. Listening is the act of hearing a sound and understanding what you hear.

3. Difference between Kinesics and Paralanguage:

Basis for Communication Kinesics Paralanguage
Meaning It refers to gestures, facial expressions, and postures of a person. It refers to non-lexical components of speech such as pitch, tone, intonation, volume, pauses, etc.
Area Of expression It can be expressed through gestures, body posture, eye movement and facial expressions. It can be expressed through nonverbal components of speech such as speech speed, pitch of voice, tone, volume, modulation, inflection, accent and accentuation.
Parts of the Body It is conveyed through the whole body. It is conveyed through the mouth.
Vision and Hearing It can be understood through vision or sight. It is understood through hearing.
Study Physical behavior such as gestures, body posture, eye movement, and facial expressions are studied in Kinesics. Silences, pauses, and breaks in speech, as well as respiratory aspects of speech like gasps and sighs, are also studied under paralanguage.

4. Difference between Connotation and Denotation:

Basis for Communication Connotation Denotation
Meaning Connotation refers to the personal and cultural meanings in addition to their primary, literal meaning of a word. Denotation refers to the primary, literal meaning or the dictionary meaning of a word.
Category It can be classified as positive connotation and negative connotation. It is not classified.
Culture and Personal Experience It can change according to culture and personal experiences. It remains the same regardless of culture and personal experiences.
Example That t-shirt was so cheap, it pilled in a matter of weeks. This shirt is cheap enough for me to afford.
Classification Connotation is an indirect or implied meaning or feeling. Denotation is the literal meaning of a word.

5. Difference between Vocalised Pause and Silence:

Basis for Communication Vocalised Pause Silence
Meaning Vocalised Pause is to interrupt an activity and wait. Silence is to make (someone or something) silent.
Uses Pause is used to make audiences listen more carefully. Silence makes one to think and reflect upon hard and naked truth.
Basic Difference Pause is to stop temporarily. Silence is the absence of sound.
Pause is for audience to response. Silence may be a muteness of sound.
Example It also revealed something that gave her pause for thought. I find it hard to sleep unless there is complete silence.

6. Difference between Advice and Suggestion:

Basis for Communication Advice Suggestion
Meaning Advice is something that needs to be followed strictly. Suggestion is something which is often given in a friendly manner.
Elaboration The word advice is mainly in the sense of counseling what a person should do concerning a specific phenomenon that he or she does not have a clear understanding. A suggestion is a plan or opinion given to an individual for consideration.
Consequences Advice not followed may cause harm to oneself. Suggestion doesn't cause any harm to oneself.
Counsel and Idea The word advice is used in the sense of counsel. The word suggestion is used in the sense of giving an idea
Example The advice that was given by him was followed with diligence. He suggested that it could be done in this way.
