Compatibility:

  • HDTV is a new high definition system but there are lots of standard definition TV sets with the existing users of TV system.
  • The compatible transmission uses a format which is compatible with the conventional TV receiver and it is augmented by an additional information for displaying full quality HDTV on the HDTV receiver.
  • HDTV receiver have a reverse compatibility, it means they can easily display the transmission having standard quality.
  • Adapter used for format conversion could be costly or very costly depending on the quality of standard TV set used for HDTV reception.
  • The new HD TV receiver should have a backward compatibility they must be able to receive the existing conventional signals.
