- In Wide screen Television system the size of screen is more than 1 metre and it can provide real life size display similar to or comparable to cinema screen.
- Such television system is referred as White dimension television or high-definition television, the display picture looks natural due to its large size it is more pleasing then the display on the conventional television.
- The picture quality seems to be excellent even on a small screen of conventional television but if we use the same technique of scanning and interleaving for a widescreen, then the fault of conventional techniques become extremely apparent.
- The image will not be seen as one hole but we'll see in as town into discrete elements which will be irritating, moreover the cross talk between luminance and colour signals are interleaved in the normal television. This crosstalk will become painful on a widescreen television.
- The new technique developed in Europe for HDTV the luminance and chrominance signals are time domain multiplexed these signals are not interleaved the way they are in the conventional TV.
- Due to TDM technique the mutual interference between the luminance and chrominance signal is eliminated completely, but practically there is some overlap between Y and C signals in a conventional TV despite of all efforts.
- The TDM technique used in HD TV is also known as multiplexing analogue component that is MAC technique.
