  • For digital sound transmission the phase modulation of binary and quadrature PSK of C-MAC was initially considered but rejected because it would have required a clock rate of about 12 MHz.
  • Duo-binary coding of sound signal developed in France to reduce the bandwidth requirement for the data burst.
  • Every two adjacent bits of Level 0 and 1 are combined into a new information unit, giving rise to a possible pairing as 00, 11 as well as 10 and 01, because 10 and 01 are treated as same, 3 possible patterns left.
  • Synchronization in MAC signal can be of two types namely horizontal and vertical.
  • Horizontal synchronization can be achieved with the help of first 6 bit of the database whereas vertical synchronization can be achieved with the help of first 64 bits vertical sync and the word send in the 625th line.
  • The horizontal sync word is defined as “001011”. It is transmitted either and its true form or anyone inverted form depending on the horizontal line number.
  • The sound and data information is transmitted in the form of packets. The first bit starts with the first bit of following horizontal sync word of the first line.
