A Multiplexer is a circuit that accepts many inputs but gives only one output.
Multiplexer circuit means many into one.
A multiplexer circuit is used to select and route any one of the several input signals to a single output.
Significance of Multiplexer Circuits:
It can facilitate the transmission of data through a single line.
It uses fewer wires.
It reduces the cost and the complexity of the system.
It doesn’t require K-maps & any simplification.
It can make the transmission circuit less complex and economical.
It can improve the reliability of the digital system and reduce the number of exterior wired connections.
Its ability can be extended to switch audio signals, video signals, etc.

De-multiplexer Circuits
A De-multiplexer is a circuit that accepts only one input and gives many outputs.
De-multiplexer circuit means one to many.
In A de-multiplexer circuit apply a control signal, to steer any input to the output.
Significance of De-multiplexer Circuits:
It takes a single high-speed source signal and spreads it across multiple low-speed circuits.
It connects a single source to multiple destinations.
It divides the mutual signals back into separate streams.
It enables several rows in memory chips based on the address.
De-multiplexer circuits are used within CLK data recovery solutions.
It is used as a decoder within the security systems of banking sectors.
It is used for the reconstruction of parallel data and ALU circuits.
