1) The organization of the petroleum exporting countries ( OPEC ) is an International organisation which was formed between 1-14 Sep 1960 with its head quarter at Geneva.
2) It's initial member were 5 countries namely Iraq , kuwait , Iran, Saudi Arabia & Venezuela. later , this organisation by joined by 9 more countries namely Libya, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Indonesia, Algeria , Nigeria, Equador, Angola and Gabon.
3) The basic aim & policies of OPEC are:
To co-ordinate the policies of the oil producing countries.
To control International oil prices by varying the oil production by the organisation,
To secure steady income to members of the organisation.
It's policy says that there is a right of all the countries on its nature resources.
Organisation is not subjected to internal competitive pricing.
