DEFINITION

• Science of collecting,organizing,presenting,interpreting and analyzing.
• Data scientist is a person who is better at statistics than any programmer and better at programming than any statisician.

FUNCTIONS OF STATISTICS

• It presents data.
• It helps in prediction.
• It helps in test hypothesis.
• It facilitate comparison.

TYPES OF STATISTICS

• Quantitative Analysis:Statistical analysis is the science of collecting and interpreting data with numbers and graphs to identify patterns and trends.
• Qualitative Analysis:Non-statistical analysis gives generic information and uses text,sound and other forms of media to do so.
• For example if I want to purchase a drink,it is available in short,tall and grande.This is an example of qualitative analysis.
• But if a store sells 70 regular drinks a week,it is quantitative analysis because we have a number representing the coffees sold per week.
• Although the purpose of both these analysis is to provide results,Quantitative Analysis provides a clearer picture hence making it crucial in analytics.
