LED	LASER Diode
Low forward bias is required	High forward bias is required
Light emission process is spontaneous	Light emission process is stimulated
Population inversion is not required	Population inversion is essential
Resonant cavity is not required	Resonant cavity is essential. Opposite sides of pn junction are made parallel and reflecting to cause feedback
