Before any construction project is started, a number of tasks are to be carried out to ensure smooth completion. These tasks are called Mobilization.

The activities that have to be undertaken generally for mobilization of a construction project are as follows:-

• Arranging for water and electricity supplies
• Construction of approach roads to the site.
• Construction of site office canteen etc.
• Construction of residences for workers, officers and other employees.
• Making arrangements for sanitation and medical facilities.
• Arranging for construction equipment in advance of construction.

Usually a provision is made in the contract to grant some mobilization advance to the contractor.
