Taxiway:-
It is a path on airport or acrodrome connecting runways with ramps, hangars, terminals and other facilities. Taxiway consists of hard surface such as asphalt or concrete. Smaller airports sometimes use gravel or grass.
The taxiway provides access from the runways to the terminal area and service hangars. This is the main function of taxiway.
Factors affecting or governing the layout of the taxiway are as follows:-
Apron:-
In busy airports, the pavement adjacent to the end of runway is termed as holding apron and also sometimes termed as warm up pads and run up pads.
The aircraft before take off brings from loading apron to holding apron so as to check aircraft instrument and engine operation.
There are various points to be considered for holding aprons mentioned as follows:-
