  1. This refers to browser-initiated application software over thousands of paid cloud customers. The SaaS model applies to business processes, industry applications, consumer relationship management (CRM), enterprise resources planning (ERP),human resources (HR), and collaborative applications.
  2. On the customer side, there is no upfront investment in servers or software licensing.
  3. On the provider side, costs are rather low, compared with conventional hosting of user applications.
  4. The SaaS model relies on the cloud provider to perform all security functions.
  5. Cloud providers install and operate application software in the cloud and cloud users access the software from cloud clients.
  6. The pricing model for SaaS applications is typically a monthly or yearly flat fee per user, so price is scalable and adjustable if users are added or removed at any point.
  7. Examples of SaaS include: Google Apps, innkeypos, Quickbooks Online, Limelight Video Platform human resources (HR), and collaborative applications.
