Silence is one of the important forms of non-verbal communication.
Silence is more eloquent than words.
It is said that too much of a silence makes a loud noise.
People can use silence that silence is half-consent, when people ask your ‘yes’ or ‘no’ to something, and if you remain silent; then people may consider your silence as acceptance or consent.
Silence has very much importance in oral communication. It is a diplomatic way to accept or reject an idea.
Silence is useful in many ways such as it helps get attention, prevent communication, express agreement/disagreement, show respect/disrespect etc.
For example, if somebody says something to you that you don't like, giving them a bout of uncomfortable silence can put them in their place. The chilliness & confusion could knock them over with a feather.
